Evaluation Part 1

I created a musicvideo so that was the brief that I worked to, the song that I created a music video for was called the “Spartans Anthem” written and produced by ‘Samuel Odejimi ’. This differed to my other song that I presented my pitch to my class mates trying to convince them to help produce my music video, the song that I presented to them was called ‘the streets is watching’ by Samuel 'Daizer' Odejemi. Samuel is student at Chadwell Heath Academy, and currently studying music. He achieve an A* in music at GCSE level and is currently on his way to an A grade at A-level. The way that I found my artist was, he is on my national league basketball team the ‘London Spartans ’ and one of my closest friends, he is also a student at my school ‘Chadwell Heath Academy’, he made a song to promote the remit of our club and how is positively effects the lives of young people in London. Even though most of the communication between me and the artist was verbal in order to prove that I had legal permission to produce

this music video, I asked Samuel to write me an email giving me full permissions to use his song for my media production.
The genre of my music video is hip hop and R&B, the reason I wanted to do this genre of music for my music video because this is my favourite genre of music to listen to, and I have seen many music videos with in the this genre or have the same aspects as this genre, so I immediately in my mind go

t a picture of what I wanted my music video to look like. When creating my music video I tried to immolate the ‘Dra ke -Forever' music video because this is a song that I really like and I also like the music video because they were able to include archive footage.

Analysis of similar media text 2

This media text is a music video i have chosen to analysis this video because it has been done by UK un signed UK rap artists there fore the budget for this particular music video is not very high. this music video has a low budget however still has most of the conventions of a typical music video, such as synchronised editing for instance when the music increases in tempo the editing also increases in tempo. different genres of music have a certain theme such as if it is a hip hop music video it will have real life theme and chemise end scene would compliment this such as it will be filmed near a counsel estate. ad the colour scheme would be a dark and gloomy to represent some of the trouble that they may face in their every day lives and they want who ever watches the video to feel that hardship. the music video would not have a chronological story line it will have cuts to different location that have and impact on the theme of the music video. with this small budget the music video would very little or no graphics. the music video would be aimed at a niche audience it would only be aimed at people in the same situation as them i would not be aimed at a larger mainstream audience. the audiences other media consumptions would be the same genre of music and other violent films such as Kidult hood or Adulthood. the audiences hobbies and interests would be doing thing that the artists sing about in their songs, things like selling drugs and being violent.

Evaluation Of My Pitch

I delivered a power point presenctation to my pears, trying to persuading them to be aprat of my music video preoject, so my idea would one of the project that would produeced. the genre of my music video is Hip Hop.

Content-
they liked the fact that what my aritst is singing and rapping about his dreams instead of the tipcal rap artists. they also liked that fact that my presentation was very clear and easy to understand. and they also liked my idea of having a stopry line with the music video. however teh audience felt that i needed to give more detail when explaining the story that is going to go on with in my music video. they audence also felt that the location of my music video was not clear.
Audience-
the audience thought that my choice of song was very good because it can appeal to many different kinds of music fans because it has hip hop, RnB and also some soul. i have a gfood age range because my age range is realistic to my genre of music. on the other hand i didnt link how i am going to reach out to my audience more effectively through branding.
Genre and style-
my content and topics were very relevent to youths today and what kind of problems that we face every day in our lives. good links to simlar examples with my text. how ever again this section was not detailed enough
Representations-
all my points were very clear and easy to under stand. all points were strong and ideas were good. however i didnt talk about what social class it relates to and how and why its relates to them. conforming to the social norms too much when explaining how i am going to shot and what kind of feel my music video
Narrative-
my narrative is very clear and will be sucess ful and easy to get in to and understand the video. how ever lacked some detail. did not explain enough about the way i am goin to edit my music video.

Hadouken VS Gallows

Hadouken fan profile -
Age- 14-20 this is because the image that they promote and all so the lyrical content, some of there songs are about

Gender- Mixed gender because the band have both male and female members. also the subjects of their song are not male solely at a male audience.

Ethnicity- white, because the group is mainly aimed at a higher social class.

Hobbies and Interests- they would include skate boarding getting piercings. and wear punk clothes such as skinny jeans and DC clothes.

Other Media Consummations- other punk music group such as Mac Fly or Maroon5. they would also like dark films such as Twilight.

Gallow Fan Profile
Age - 19-24 i feel that their music would be targeted at this age group because their music is very loud, frantic and energetic.
Gender- i feel that the gallows music is aimed at a mixed audience but mainly aimed at men because of they are visually very boisterous and uptempo.
Ethnicity- i feel that their target audience would mainly be a white because all of the members of the Grus are white and all other bands in this genre of music are aimed at a white target audience.
Hobbies and Interests- other hobbies and interests of fa ms of the Gallows would consists of tattooing their skin. getting piercings
Current media consumptions- theses would be dark film with a super natural element such as films with vampires.

There are many difference between the two groups for instance the gallows appearance has a very dark feel to it. most of the colours they wear are black and white colours these colour relate to there music because there music is very dark violent music. on the other hand the appearance of Hadouken has a much younger theme because they wear much brighter colour and more trendy that young teenagers would wear such as skinny jeans and light colours such as yellows and pinks. Also the typography between the groups are very different because the Gallows is allot more scary and demon like because they have these IN human like creatures on their dick cover where as Hadouken just have some font that has a colourful back ground and.

Both of the two group have design their own brand and products, however the two groups branding merchandise differs because the gallows have made there product and they all fit to the dark theme, this makes people feel closer to the band because they are getting the product that members of the band have personally designed. on the other hand Hadouken do the almost the same thing because they have t-shirts which they have designed however they also have a t-shirt that they sell which is blank and they encourage fans to make their own design this will encourage people to buy their products because it makes people feel like they are a part of the band because they are designing the bands clothes.

Gallows

the gallows target audience would be very niche compared to a very commercial group in the same genre such as evanescence.there target audience would range between the ages of 17 -28 because it is very up tempo

hard music and this would not really appeal to a younger or older audience because the of what the Gallows music is about. i believe that it appeals to both genders however mainly i feel it appeals to men because the music is very boisterous and violent and loud. if feel that this genre of music would mainly appal to white people because they can relate to the members in the group on a personal level because all the members in the group are white you would feel that connection with the band. the hobbies and interests of the kind of people that listen to the Gallows would consist of tattooing the self. they would be angry allot also they would love to listen to loud violent music. the current media consummations of the Gallows target audience would be various other rock band movies with a very dark theme to for instance a vampire movie.

Uses and Gratification the gallows entertain there fans very by making there performances personal, they get in the crowd and sing along with the fans this interaction shows a good connection between the artist and consumer this would have a good effect on there sales because the fans would feel a personal connection with the artist so they would feel more obliged to purchase their music. also due to the fact that this band is not a very conventional ban this will encorage people to be more indevidual and because the bands image is to stand out from the public so their fans would want to stand out from the public. there are four parts to uses and gratification.

1- the media text is enjoyable and provides and escape from the routine and problems of real life and helps to release stress. for example after a hard days work coming home and watching a good soupopera can be very relaxing.

2-the media text is a sourse of information for example people watch bbc and chanel 4 news because its keep them informed and update with all the things going on in the world.

3- the media text reflects your own values, ideals and hopes and allows you to be your self. for example i like watching MTV base because it lays the type of music i like. i like watching One Tree Hill because the characters in that programme share the same values as me.

4- the media is part of my social life or is it a replacement for a social life. for example i like to watch Eastenders because it provides good convosation with my friends at work. i like to watch the football at the pub because i get to socialise with other football fans.

music videos are very important for the artist because it creates mass awareness of the artist and helps to sell the album because a music video is just like a advert that last as long as the song does. also it is essential for the record company they can promote awareness of the artists up and coming album this then makes the audience want to buy the album because only the best songs are released and become music videos. having music videos also effects the audience because they get to see the artist actually performing the song this has a very personal effect so the audience feel closer to the artist.

A narrative is going to be a begining and an end an the story line of the music video runs through chronologically.

A conceptual video has allot of fast cuts and also cuts away from the story line and the editing is also synchronised witht the music.

Branding is when a group applys a theme to all of thing that they are offiliated with frome instance album covers, costums and music videos. this is very important to the appeal to a niche audience because if all their products are related to each other then the and related to wha the niche audience is attracted to the will feel close to the band and love and consume every thing that they produce. fr instance witht the gallows their brand is tatoo are. Branding from with in the band appeals more to the niche audience because of the fact that it is from the band the audicen feel closer to the band and buying their product has a more personal effect.
